Asian Rummynose - Sawbwa resplendens

Product Overview

The Asian Rummynose, scientifically known as Sawbwa resplendens, is a captivating and vibrant addition to any freshwater aquarium. Renowned for its striking coloration and lively demeanor, this species is sure to enhance the beauty and diversity of your aquatic environment.

Key Features

  • Vivid Coloration: Known for their stunning red nose and shimmering silver body, these fish add a splash of color to any tank.

  • Active Swimmers: Their energetic and schooling nature brings life and movement to your aquarium.

  • Peaceful Disposition: Compatible with a variety of other fish, making them an excellent choice for community tanks.

Care Requirements

  • Tank Size: Minimum of 10 gallons for a small school.

  • Water Conditions: Prefer slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0-7.5) and a temperature range of 72-79°F (22-26°C).

  • Diet: Omnivorous, thriving on a varied diet of high-quality flakes, small pellets, and live or frozen foods like brine shrimp and daphnia.

Ideal Habitat

  • Aquascaping: Best suited to tanks with plenty of swimming space and planted areas for hiding.

  • Water Quality: Maintain clean, well-filtered water with regular changes to ensure optimal health.

Compatibility

  • Tankmates: Best kept with other peaceful fish of similar size such as tetras, rasboras, and small barbs.

The Asian Rummynose is great for planted tanks and are considered a "nano tank fish" though we recommend keeping them in a 10g+.

They can tolerate cooler water and a tank that is heavily planted.  Males will become more vividly colored.

They color up in a larger school (6 or more fish) and do well in a nicely aquascaped tank with plenty of plants.

Also known as a Asian Rummynose Tetra though not a Tetra nor is it a true Rasbora as they are more closely related to Barbs.
