Bettas are indeed a "gateway fish" for many of us in the fish keeping hobby!

Many of us got our start in the hobby by seeing that interactive Betta fish in our local fish store and after keeping it in a small tank, we decided to upgrade its home to a much bigger tank.  Next thing you know, you're getting into more advanced fish species and years down the line, you find yourself nerding out on water parameters for your aquatic plants and keeping gorgeous fish you've never imagined.
