Description:

Aquarium Care:
- Tank Size: Minimum of 30 gallons recommended to provide ample swimming space and territory.
- Water Conditions:
- pH: 7.0 to 8.0
- Salinity: Preferably kept in brackish water (1.005 - 1.015 specific gravity)
- Temperature: 75°F to 82°F (24°C to 28°C)
- Filtration: A strong filtration system is essential to maintain water quality. Regular water changes (25% weekly) are recommended.
- Tank Setup:
- Provide hiding spots using caves, driftwood, and dense plants.
- Ensure the substrate is soft to protect their delicate bodies and avoid sharp edges that can cause injury.
- Diet: Primarily carnivorous; feed a varied diet including live or frozen foods such as shrimp, snails, and high-quality pellets.
- Compatibility: Best kept alone or with other robust, similarly sized fish. Avoid keeping with small or slow-moving fish as they may become prey.

I ordered two Figure 8 puffers.
The good: Shipping went smoothly and I was thrilled to see that the heat pack was still warm. Both arrived alive and readily ate after acclimation. They also swiftly fixed my developing snail problem (my tank is heavily planted).
The bad: one was missing a dorsal fin and I suspect has ick. Also, the other appears to have some sort of eye infection which developed within the span of 24 hours. This has led me to begin the long process of medicating both of the fish.
I’m not really all too bothered by the infections (suspected) considering that the puffers are generally wild caught. I’m dissatisfied with receiving a puffer with a missing a dorsal fin. -

My fish came in being pretty active and looking generally healthy. The body is around an inch and a half long, wasn't emaciated as I was concerned that it would be. I would definitely order from Pet Zone again!

Two of the three puffers arrived healthy and in good shape. One had fin damage, and I'm not sure if it will make it. Customer service said the fish were kept at 1.008 salinity, but when I treated the bags they arrived in it was 1.001. on the bright side each fish was shipped in it's own bag and the healthy ones are super active.

Everything I Hoped For
First, it is very difficult to not only find these Figure 8s in stock at most places, but its even more difficult to find them in existing brackish conditions. Despite them being brackish fish, most stores keep them in fresh water which was very frustrating to me as I already have a brackish tank. THEN, I found PetZone. I emailed them with questions about the salt levels in their holding tanks and I received prompt and friendly responses answering all my questions. Shipping was quick and well done; nicely packed with a warmer in an insulated box, and it shipped Monday and was to my door by 1:30PM the next day. They are active, colorful, adorable and incredibly healthy. Everything I wanted!
