Long-Snouted Pipefish (Freshwater Pipefish) - Doryichthys Martensii
The Freshwater Pipefish is the closest one can get to a "Freshwater Seahorse Fish."
These oddball fish are not for beginner or intermediate fish keepers. They require a constant supply of live foods (blackworms, daphnia, brine shrimp, etc) in order to thrive.
A challenging yet fulfilling fish for the fish keeping hobbyist who is up for a challenge!
As with their saltwater relatives and counterparts (Seahorse), the males carry eggs and give birth to young.
Size is around an inch to an inch and a half.
