Siamese Algae Eater - Crossocheilus sp.

The Siamese Algae Eater is a very prolific when it comes to keep the tank and live plants clean, as they go a great job grazing algae.

This peaceful fish does well in community aquariums!  Great for planted tanks.

Max size: 6"

Minimum tank: 30gal

Fed Ex Sucks/ The seller is awesome

Posted by Gary Watkins on 23rd May 2020

Fed ex overnight deliver for Friday by 10:30am it’s Saturday at 8:30 and my fish still hasn’t arrived and I fear they are dead. The seller shipped this item on time as promised but Fed Ex can’t deliver and doesn’t care

2 of the 3 fish died within 24 hours. We're happy one seems to be doing okay.

    Good fish, bad luck

Posted by Adam Davies on 21st May 2020

Understanding the shipping delays in light of COVID, I ordered three SAEs to help combat BBA in my 48 gallon tank. Unfortunately, 1 arrived dead with an apparent hole in its chest and the other died over the first night post-introduction (despite a careful 3 hour drip acclimation, introduction with the lights off, and other healthy established fish already in the tank). The third seems happy and healthy thus far and I’ve already seen him nipping at the algae. Wish all three could’ve made it but it was packed well with a heat pack and I can only imagine it was just bad luck unfortunately.

    Voracious Cleaners

Posted by Tom Sims on 21st May 2020

After seeing to water parameters & lighting issues that led to a huge hair & staghorn algae bloom, I stocked a few of these guys for cleanup. In three days they demolished it and my Java moss, once lost under clouds of gunk, is clean as a whistle! They're active, entertaining, and pretty dang cute. Tragically there were two DOAs in my first shipment but the company gave me a partial refund, which I put towards replacements. The second batch all arrived alive. Great little fish, highly recommended...if you have room, because you should have at least 5-6 and they grow up to be 6" long!
