Ammannia Sulawesi

Ammannia Sulawesi is a rare and exotic stem plant known for its bold red and orange coloration. Native to Sulawesi, Indonesia, this plant adds a tropical, fiery appearance to aquascapes, making it highly sought after by enthusiasts. Its narrow, elongated leaves grow opposite each other on sturdy stems, creating a dense and striking display when planted in groups.

This plant requires high lighting and CO₂ supplementation to thrive, along with a nutrient-rich substrate and regular fertilization. Adequate levels of iron and micronutrients are particularly important for maintaining its deep red hues. Under less than ideal conditions, Ammannia Sulawesi may lose its coloration and revert to more subdued green tones.

In aquascaping, Ammannia Sulawesi is best used as a background or midground accent where its bold colors can stand out against green foliage. Regular trimming keeps the plant compact and encourages bushier growth, while cuttings can easily be replanted to propagate new stems. Its demanding care requirements make it more suitable for experienced aquarists, but those who provide the right conditions are rewarded with one of the most stunning red plants available in the aquarium hobby.
