The Galaxy Rasbora (*Celestichthys margaritatus*), also known as the Celestial Pearl Danio, is a stunning freshwater fish that has become a favorite among aquarists for its vibrant colors and peaceful nature. Originally discovered in small ponds of Myanmar in 2006, this species quickly gained popularity due to its dazzling, galaxy-like appearance.

Galaxy Rasboras are small, growing to just under 1 inch in length, making them perfect for nano and planted aquariums. Their bodies are a dark blue to greenish color, covered with pearl-like white or yellow spots that resemble stars in a night sky. Bright red or orange fins add to their beauty, creating a striking contrast.

These fish are peaceful and do best in schools of at least 6–10 individuals. In groups, they feel secure and display more vibrant colors, as well as natural social behaviors. Because of their small size, they should be housed with other gentle tankmates such as small tetras, shrimp, or other microfish. Aggressive or much larger species should be avoided.

A well-planted aquarium with plenty of hiding spots and open swimming space is ideal for Galaxy Rasboras. They prefer stable water conditions with a temperature range of 72–79°F, a pH between 6.5–7.5, and gentle filtration. Their natural habitat is shallow, plant-rich ponds, so aquariums that replicate this environment help them thrive.

Galaxy Rasboras are omnivores and enjoy a varied diet of high-quality micro pellets, flakes, and live or frozen foods like daphnia, brine shrimp, and microworms. Smaller foods are essential due to their tiny mouths. A varied diet enhances their colors and supports good health.

Breeding Galaxy Rasboras is possible in home aquariums. They are egg scatterers and will lay eggs among fine-leaved plants or moss. The adults do not guard the eggs, so providing dense vegetation or a breeding setup helps protect the fry.

With proper care, Galaxy Rasboras can live 3–5 years. Their celestial patterns, small size, and gentle nature make them an excellent choice for aquarists looking to add beauty and serenity to a peaceful community or nano tank.
