Native to Australia and New Guinea, this peaceful species is ideal for planted or nano aquariums. Their graceful swimming and social behavior make them a favorite among aquascapers and hobbyists alike.

Care Level: Easy
Temperament: Peaceful
Diet: Omnivore – enjoys micro pellets, flakes, and live or frozen foods such as daphnia and brine shrimp
Water Temperature: 72–80°F
pH Level: 6.0–7.5
Water Hardness: 5–12 dGH
Minimum Tank Size: 10 gallons
Average Adult Size: 1–1.2 inches

Tank Setup:
Provide a well-planted aquarium with open swimming areas and gentle filtration. Floating plants help diffuse light and make the fish feel more secure. Keep them in groups of at least 6 to encourage natural schooling and display behavior.

Compatibility:
Perfect for peaceful community tanks. Can be kept with other small, non-aggressive fish such as rasboras, tetras, shrimp, and small corydoras. Avoid larger or aggressive species.

Breeding:
Egg scatterers that spawn among fine plants or spawning mops. Adults may eat the eggs, so use a separate breeding tank or remove the parents after spawning.

Gertrude’s Spotted Blue Eye Rainbowfish is a beautiful and active nano species that brings color, sparkle, and lively energy to any freshwater setup.

They were a little light in color when I received them, but that was to be expected during shipping. Now that they're in their new home they're swimming around interacting with everything in the tank. So cute!
