Tire Track Eel (Mastacembelus armatus)
These tire track eels are fun to watch while they swim around the tank and make a great addition to your fish tanks!
They have cool movements and add a bit of exotic-ness to any freshwater tank.
They are about 4" to 6" at the moment.
Also known as the Zig zag eel is a variety of Southeast Asian freshwater eel. They are scaleless elongated fish that appreciate soft sandy substrate for burrowing. These eels have a nice pattern throughout their bodies and long dorsal fins that connect to the anal fin at the tail. They do great with other large fish such as Knifefish, gourami, plecos, loaches and peaceful cichlids. Nocturnal carnivores that appreciate live fish and frozen foods. Growing to 20” in the aquarium wild specimens have been recorded at 36”!
